چکیده

Indole is a benzopyrrole in which the benzene and pyrrole rings are fused through the 2-and 3-positions of the pyrrole nucleus. The indole derivatives are very much used as anticonvulsant agents. In the same context, several indole derivatives were prepared by the reaction between indole-3carboxaldehyde and various p-substituted phenylsemicarbazides, in the presence of glacial acetic acid. The Mannich bases of above synthesized compounds were prepared by using formaldehyde & various secondary amines. All the prepared derivatives were screened against different chemical induced convulsion models such as isoniazid, thiosemicarbazide & 4-aminopyridine respectively, for their possible convulsant and anticonvulsant activity. The derivatives were also evaluated for their sedativehypnotic properties using phenobarbitone induced sleeping model & also for their neurotoxicity. The result showed that some of the compounds were very much active against different convulsant models, proving their different mode of actions in the course of epileptic seizures.

Anticonvulsant Effect of Cicer arietinum Seed in Animal Models of Epilepsy: Introduction of an active Molecule with Novel Chemical Structure

Background: Cicer arietinum (Chickpea) is one of the most important harvests in the world with high nutritional value. Lack of essential oils in the seeds of Chickpea is an advantage in search for drug-like molecules with less toxicity. We evaluated anticonvulsant effect of C. arietinum in common animal models of epilepsy. Methods: Dichloromethane extract was obtained from C. arietinum seeds by...

Anticonvulsant Activity of B2, an Adenosine Analog, on Chemical Convulsant-Induced Seizures

Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disorder characterized by recurrent seizures. However, approximately one-third of epilepsy patients still suffer from uncontrolled seizures. Effective treatments for epilepsy are yet to be developed. N (6)-(3-methoxyl-4-hydroxybenzyl) adenine riboside (B2) is a N(6)-substitued adenosine analog. Here we describe an investigation of the effects and mechanisms of...

In-vivo Anticonvulsant and In-vitro Antitubercular Activity of methyl Indole Derivative of some 6-aryl-4, 5-Dihydropyridazin-3(2H)-ones and their Expected Anticonvulsant Mechanisms

Methyl indole derivative of some 6-aryl-4,5-dihydropyridazin-3(2H)-ones (3a-e) were synthesized by Mannich reaction and evaluated as anticonvulsant against MES (50mA, for 2sec), INH (250mg/kg), scPTZ (80mg/kg) and STR (3mg/kg) induced convulsion methods at 50 mg/kg dose level. All compounds 3a-e were also evaluated as antitubercular agent against M. tuberculosis H37Rv by MABA method. All compou...

Synthesis and Anticonvulsant Evaluation of some New 6-(Substitutedphenyl) thiazolo[3,2-b][1,2,4]triazole Derivatives in Mice

Epilepsy is the most frequnt nearological affiction and afflicts 1% about of the worlds population. Currently there is an urgent need for the development of novel anticonvulsants with higher levels of potency and lower levels of toxicity. In this paper, a series of new 6-(substituted-phenyl)thiazolo[3,2-b][1,2,4]triazole derivatives were synthesized and tested for their anticonvulsant activity ...
